Corvinus success: silver medal at the Junior World Fencing Championships

Our student, Laura Kozma, and the women’s épée team won a silver medal at their first Junior World Championships.
Budapesti Corvinus Egyetem

As a member of the Hungarian national team, Laura Kozma played a key role in the semi-final against Italy. As one of the team’s standout performers, she contributed crucial hits to secure a 45–40 victory, helping the Hungarian team advance to the final.

Alongside two-time cadet individual world champion Lotti Horváth and Gréta Gachályi, Laura Kozma also took to the piste as part of the team. The Hungarian squad finished the competition with a silver medal, an impressive achievement for such a young team. The same quartet had already claimed silver earlier in February at the European Championships held in Tbilisi—this was Laura Kozma’s first podium finish at a major international competition.

Laura learned the fundamentals of fencing at the Diósgyőr Fencing Club under the guidance of Beatrix Kosztopulosz, and she is currently preparing for future competitions under the professional supervision of László Kovács.

Congratulations to Laura!
