Corvinus researcher joins Microsoft’s global AI research team

Founded in the summer of 2024, the Microsoft AI Economy Institute (AIEI) aims to explore the real-world economic, labor market, and educational impacts of artificial intelligence. The institute’s international Senior Fellows come from fields such as economics, sociology, and data analysis across North America, Europe, and many other parts of the world. 

The latest cohort of the global research team has recently been introduced, and includes Johannes Wachs, researcher and leader of the Center for Collective Learning within the Corvinus Institute for Advanced Studies (CIAS). In the team, he will be working alongside experts from renowned institutions such as MIT, Carnegie Mellon, Columbia, and Bocconi. 

Selected from more than 800 applicants, the 23-member international team will analyze leading companies to study how artificial intelligence is transforming daily work and the broader economic environment. Among other topics, they seek to answer how market players are implementing AI, how they are reshaping workflows, and what new skills they expect from employees. The findings of the research will provide direct insights for policymakers and institutions adapting to an AI-driven economy.
