István Benczes has been awarded the Academic Prize of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences

The prestigious Academic Prize, conferred by the Presidium of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, was presented on 4 May at the ceremonial session of the Academy’s 200th General Assembly. István Benczes, DSc, Professor of Corvinus University of Budapest, received the distinction in recognition of his outstanding research achievements, which are of major significance both to global economic theory and to national welfare. The award acknowledges his rigorous and objective analysis of the imperatives of sound fiscal policy, intergovernmental integration, and the effects of emerging forms of economic populism, as well as his development of original solutions with relevance to public policy.The Presidium of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences awards the Academic Prize to researchers or research groups in recognition of their outstanding scientific activity, based on their research accomplishments in previous years, as well as their scholarly books and publications.
