In early April, the National Sport Climbing Competition was organised by MEFOB

During the weekend, there were unusual competitions in individual and team climbing. A total of 12 teams entered, with Corvinus University of Budapest fielding 3 teams.

Saturday was all about the teams. In teams of 4, each team member had to complete 6 difficulty routes, 6 boulder routes and 1 speed route. This meant a total of 3.5 hours of pure climbing time, with only small breaks between each event, so there was not much time to recover. The team results were calculated as a sum of the individual results in the same way as at the Olympics.

On Sunday, the best competitors could compete individually. The day started with the bouldering event, which involved 6 routes in 45 minutes, followed by the speed climbing event, where the final was a straight elimination. The last event was the difficulty climbing final. The final was a single route, but unlike the previous day, it was not a top belay, but a front climb, where the competitor carried his belay rope himself.

The Corvinus students achieved good results in both the team and individual events: out of the three teams, we achieved the 6th place with our “Campus Cult” team – Nóra Júlia Frivaldszky, Levente Krofinger, József Tas Sebestyén, Hektor Villarroel Salvador, and in the girls’ individual event, two 6th place winners. In the individual category, we also achieved two 6th places – Borbála Hegyi and Virág Vályi – Nagy, while in the boys’ category, Torda Ladomérszky also achieved 6th place.

Thank you to our coaches, Emőke Mészáros and Szabolcs Vasadi!

Special congratulations to all participants for their nice and persistent performance!
