Application for the Hungarian Competition Authority’s Research Support Grant is open till 15 December

The Corvinus University of Budapest is awarding research grants based on the grant agreement contract that was signed with the Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH). The grant aims at supporting research in microeconomics, industrial organization, and applied microeconomics.

Applicants are expected to request grants to fund new research projects, however ongoing research projects may also be eligible if no other financial support was received and the results have not yet been published. 

Successful candidates are expected to summarize their research findings preferably in a paper prepared for publication (manuscript or working paper) and present the research results at the GVH staff meeting scheduled for the end of May 2022. 

Grant amounts: 

  • Gross HUF 865,000 / person salary 
  • Gross HUF 300,000 research allowance 

The grant is open to active Corvinus University doctoral students and doctoral candidates, and to young researchers and lecturers employed by the University who obtained their PhD after 1 September 2016. 

Documents to be submitted for application: 

  • Completed and signed application form. 
  • A two-page research plan about the research question, methodology, data source, expected schedule, and research history. 
  • Publication list, preferably printed from the MTMT website. 

The application documents should be sent electronically to Jozefa Barreto, jozefa.barreto@uni-corvinus.hu, and a copy containing the signed form must be handed in at office E.222 before the submission deadline. 

Applications are accepted in Hungarian or in English. 

Deadlines: 

Submission deadline: 15 December 2021 12:00 

Decision deadline: 22 December 2021 12:00 

Submission of the final report on the performance of the tasks undertaken by the applicant (together with additional documents): 30 April 2022 12:00 

 

Method and conditions of using the grant: 

  • Salary will be disbursed after successfully fulfilling the application requirements. 
  • Research allowance can be used in agreement with the university procurement rules to cover costs related to the research project, however, tangible assets are not allowed to purchase. Some examples: book purchase, travel, conference participation fee, journal submission fee, translation costs, and proofreading costs, etc.  can be financed from the research allowance.
