Alumni mentors support students at the start of their careers

For years, one of the most popular events at Corvinus University’s twice-yearly Career & Business Festival has been the Alumni Café, where students can seek career advice from alumni working across a range of industries. At the spring festival, students were able to sign up to meet fourteen mentors.

Launched in 2023, the programme is jointly organised by the Careers Services and Alumni Relations teams. In a short time, it has become one of the festival’s most popular events and was once again part of the Corvinus Career & Business Festival held on 21–22 April. At the Alumni Café on 21 April, fourteen former students working in different sectors returned as mentors. Students preparing to enter the job market could sign up for informal 20-minute one-to-one conversations, during which alumni mentors shared valuable professional advice and practical tips on starting a career.

The participating alumni mentors represented companies including MBH Bank, ExxonMobil, Munch and Orienta.

Topics discussed during the sessions included CV writing techniques, the most effective ways to prepare for in-person job interviews, and the role of artificial intelligence in the labour market. Many current students also shared their own career-related dilemmas with the alumni mentors.
