Corvinus Researchers Lead Sustainable Finance Workshops at the NATUREFIN Partner Meeting in Finland

From 9 to 11 June 2026, representatives of the Sustainable Finance Research group (SFRC) at Corvinus University of Budapest participated in the partner meeting of the Interreg Europe project NATUREFIN, hosted by the City of Heinola, Finland. Corvinus serves as the project’s Advisory Lead Partner. 

During the meeting, SFRC researchers led technical workshops on the Sustainable Finance Navigator, a practical framework developed within the project to help regional authorities integrate biodiversity considerations into policy instruments, project development and financing decisions. 

The workshops supported partners in assessing their existing regional policy instruments, identifying areas for improvement and exploring financial and policy measures that could contribute to more nature-positive regional development. Partners also took part in structured peer-learning sessions, where they exchanged experiences and jointly developed practical responses to shared policy challenges. 

The programme included study visits presenting good practices in sustainable forestry, biodiversity conservation and nature-based tourism in the Päijät-Häme region. The visits demonstrated how cooperation between municipalities, businesses and local communities can support regional economic development while safeguarding ecosystems and natural resources. 

The Heinola meeting further strengthened SFRC’s role in supporting evidence-based policymaking and developing practical sustainable finance solutions through international research and policy cooperation. The results of the workshops and the experiences shared during the meeting will contribute to the continued development of the NATUREFIN project and its objective of improving regional policies for biodiversity and sustainable finance across Europe.
