Corvinus University has joined the international network UNICA – Network of Universities from the Capitals of Europe. Founded in 1990 and based in Brussels, UNICA currently brings together 56 universities from 39 European capital cities. The network aims to facilitate knowledge sharing, professional collaboration, and joint initiatives among member universities, as well as to strengthen the international role of European higher education.

The network connects renowned European institutions such as the Université libre de Bruxelles, King’s College London, Sorbonne Nouvelle University in Paris, the University of Vienna (Universität Wien), the University of Zagreb, and the University of Warsaw. Hungarian member institutions also include Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) and Semmelweis University.

What does this mean for Corvinus and our staff?

UNICA membership offers new opportunities for colleagues, educators, and researchers across various areas of the university.

The network organizes professional collaborations across seven thematic areas:

In connection with these areas, UNICA regularly hosts conferences, workshops, professional meetings, and knowledge-sharing events. Participation provides an opportunity not only to acquire new professional insights, but also to learn about best practices from other European universities, build networks, and engage in joint projects.

Events organized by UNICA are generally free of charge for staff members of member universities; however, travel and accommodation expenses must be arranged separately.

The membership also brings numerous benefits for students: the international best practices and innovative methodologies adopted by faculty members will enhance course quality, while closer collaboration among capital-city universities lays the groundwork for new international project opportunities and an even more open academic environment.

Getting started with UNICA

As a first step, we encourage you to subscribe to UNICA’s monthly newsletter, which provides regular updates on upcoming events, collaboration opportunities, and member university initiatives.

You can also learn more about current programs and the network’s activities on the UNICA website.

We hope to make the most of the opportunities offered by our new membership across as many areas as possible and to build further valuable international professional connections through UNICA.
