Corvinus University of Budapest at the 12th Responsible Management Education Research Conference

The 12th Responsible Management Education Research Conference, co-organized by the PRME Anti-Poverty Working Group and the Faculty of Organizational Sciences, University of Belgrade, was held on 21–23 October 2025 at the Faculty of Organizational Sciences (FON), the host institution.

The event brought together management researchers and educators, business leaders, innovators, policymakers, youth, and other stakeholders to explore critical issues in responsible management education, with a special focus on addressing global challenges through innovative and sustainable practices. 

Corvinus University of Budapest participated in two capacities: as a member of the PRME Central and Eastern European (CEE) Chaptercurrently chaired by Katalin Ásványi, Dean for Sustainability at Corvinus – and as an institution with a long-standing commitment to responsible management education, research, and practice, as it could be read in one of our previous articles.  

The first day of the conference held special significance for the PRME CEE Chapter. The agenda included a four-hour dedicated closed session – conducted in a hybrid formatfor CEE Chapter members. Divided into two main parts, the session opened with welcoming remarks from Meredith Storey, PRME Global Senior Manager, and Katalin Ásványi, Chair of the Chapter. Member institutions from across the region shared their recent achievements, PRME-related activities, and innovative educational and research initiatives. The second part featured a creativity workshop co-organized and facilitated by Prof. Oksana Sedashova from KROK Business School, a PRME CEE signatory institution. 

On the second day, the Corvinus University delegation – Katalin Ásványi, Zsuzsanna Szerényi and Zsófia Nemes, colleagues from the Institute of Sustainable Developmentpresented two papers during the session Innovative Pedagogy in Teaching Responsible Management Education. The first paper reported on a FrenchHungarian joint research project titled Teaching Sustainability in Management Education: Exploring EducatorsPerspectives on Pedagogical Tools in France and Hungary. The second presentation introduced a distinctive methodology developed at Corvinus: Challenge-Based Learning for Sustainability Literacy: Pedagogical Innovation and Preliminary Evidence from a University Pilot. The challenge-based methodology received the Spotlight on Teaching Award of Corvinus in February 2025 and was acknowledged by PRME Global as part of their Signatory Spotlight series in March 2025.   

On 23 October, Katalin Ásványi represented both the CEE Chapter and Corvinus University as a panelist in the Cross Working Group–Chapter Panel titled Innovative Research on Responsible Management Education: When Regions and Working Groups Converse, moderated by Margaret A. Goralski from the North America Chapter. 

This panel brought together representatives from multiple PRME Regional Chapters and Working Groups to discuss pressing research questions in responsible management education. The discussion highlighted the diversity of research opportunities within the PRME network and explored potential areas for cross-regional collaboration among Working Groupssuch as the Sustainability Mindset, Anti-Poverty, and Climate and Environment WGs.
