More-than-Human Wellbeing and Planetary Responsibility: What Must Education Learn?

What would education look like if human wellbeing were understood as inseparable from the wellbeing of other species, ecosystems and the planet itself? Drawing on Finnish education, innovative learning, environments and international STEAM practices, Kristóf Fenyvesi explores how creativity, interdisciplinary learning and more-than-human perspectives can help education move beyond sustainability as a topic towards planetary responsibility, as a way of thinking, learning and acting. 

Kristóf Fenyvesi, PhD is a Senior Researcher at the University of Jyväskylä’s Finnish Institute for Educational Research and an international expert in STEAM education and creative, sustainability‑focused learning. As the founder of the Experience Workshop, he works worldwide on educational development projects and contributes to initiatives linked to UNESCO, the EU and major professional organizations. His research explores how education can move beyond human‑centred wellbeing and prepare learners to responsibly shape liveable futures for both human and more‑than‑human worlds.
