Research Seminar on Media and Democracy

The Institute of Marketing and Communication Sciences at Corvinus University of Budapest welcomes Nico Carpentier (Charles University) for a Research Seminar and film screening dedicated to the themes of media, participation, and democracy. The programme features the screening and discussion of Carpentier’s latest film,  AGON, co-produced with Ali Minanto and Jhon Sany Purwanto. 

AGON is a film essay that explores how democracy is defined, contested, and lived. Set against the urban landscapes of Prague, it incorporates intercultural dialogues with members of the Indonesian and other migrant communities, blending political and cultural theory with fiction and dance. Developed within the Horizon Europe-MeDeMAP project, the film exemplifies a practice-based research approach and invites audiences to reflect on democracy as a space-bound, fragile, and continuously negotiated process.
