Key Findings of the contribution of WGIII to the IPCC 6th Assessment ReportThe Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the United Nations body for assessing the science related to climate change, is currently producing its Sixth Assessment Report (AR6).
The contribution to the Sixth Assessment Report by Working Group III, which focuses on climate change mitigation, was finalized in March 2022. Besides the latest climate science concluded by AR6, professionals of the energy sectors are most interested in the meta findings of Working Group III, including emission drivers, mitigation options and costs, pathway scenarios, energy systems response, policy approaches, policy instruments, technology development, investment and finance synergies and trade-offs.
The goal of the workshop is to provide a concise technical summary of the Working Group III’s key findings to be presented by lead authors of the report, who will be available to discuss viewpoints, draw conclusions, and answer questions from the audience.
- Diana Ürge-Vorsatz, Vice Chair of Working Group III of the IPCC
- Michael Grubb, Professor of Energy and Climate Change at University College London, Lead Author of AR6-WGIII
- Goran Strbac, Professor of Energy Systems, Imperial College London, Author of AR6-WGIII Energy Systems chapter
