IR TALKS 16 — The role of the World Court in resolving international conflicts

The talk of Máté Csernus (Associate Legal Officer, International Court of Justice) and Tamás Hoffmann (Associate Professor, Department of International Relations, Institute of Global Studies) explores the operation of the International Court of Justice (ICJ). As the international system becomes increasingly fraught with conflict, the role of international courts in addressing disputes and crises has become ever more important. This is particularly true for the International Court of Justice (ICJ), also known as the World Court, which is dealing with complex cases from Myanmar to Palestine. In this conversation with Máté Csernus, Associate Legal Officer at the ICJ, we will explore how the World Court can help resolve international crises, as well as the main challenges it faces in the current international climate.
The event will be moderated by Máté Szalai (Associate Professor, Department of International Relations, Institute of Global Studies). It is organized by the Department of International Relations and the College for Advanced Studies of Diplomacy in Practice.
IR TALKS is a series of guest and roundtable talks organised by the Department of International Relations at Corvinus University to make sense of the world we live in at a time of turbulent international politics.
