From Venice to Corvinus: Ildikó Enyedi – Silent Friend

Ildikó Enyedi, the Golden Bear-winning and Oscar-nominated director of On Body and Soul, has once again achieved international success. Her latest film, Silent Friend, won six awards at the Venice Film Festival, including the Marcello Mastroianni Award for Best Emerging Actor, presented to Luna Wedler.
The story draws a sensitive and philosophical parallel between humans and plants. At the centre of a botanical garden stands an ancient tree. Just as people observe it, the tree observes them in return. Through three interwoven stories, the film captures moments when the two forms of perception — human and vegetal — briefly and beautifully connect.
