The First Screening of the Corvinus Ecofilm Club This Fall Will Focus on Valuable Wetlands

Our initiative highlights films on sustainability, covering topics such as environmental protection, nature conservation and social responsibility. It is jointly organised by the Corvinus Library and the Dean’s Office for Sustainability.
Every month a different theme will be in focus: in September, water and wetlands; in October, sustainable eating; and in November, waste reduction and the circular economy.
Although the first screening and discussion will be in Hungarian, from October onwards we plan to show English-language film sas well.
Date: Wednesday, 24 September 2024, 18:00
Venue: Corvinus University, Gellért Campus (Budapest, Ménesi út 5, 1118), Room K202C
Language: Hungarian (please note that the first screening and discussion will be in Hungarian)
Guest: Balázs Szendőfi (nature filmmaker, composer, former fish researcher)
This month’s film: Traces of the Sződ-Rákos Marshes (63 minutes)
The film traces the journey of the Sződ-Rákos stream in Pest County, from its source in the Gödöllő Hills to the Danube, highlighting the protected marshes and wet meadows it sustains along the way. These fragile habitats are increasingly threatened by climate change and human impacts such as construction, pollution, outdated water management and fishing. Through József Kerekes’s witty, ironic narration, the documentary presents the disappearing wetlands, their wildlife and history, as well as the people and organisations working to protect them.
