Arrival
From the Airport
Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport (Budapest Liszt Ferenc Nemzetközi Repülőtér) is located about 16 km southeast of the centre of Budapest. The city centre can be reached quickly and comfortably either by taxi, shuttle bus or public transport.
Taxi
- The official airport taxi company is FŐTAXI. A ride to the city centre should cost between 6000-10 000 HUF (20-33 EUR) and take around 30 – 50 minutes depending on traffic conditions.
Shuttle bus
- The shuttle bus fare to Corvinus University is 4900 HUF (app. 17.5 EUR) but it may vary depending on the distance to your preferred address. You can get a better fare by booking a return journey or with group booking. The trip should take between 30-60 minutes. Please take also into account that there can be a waiting time up to 30 minutes. You can book online here or directly at the airport.
Public transport
- During the day it takes around 40-50 minutes to reach the city centre. Bus number 100E takes you directly to Kálvin tér (or Kálvin square). Kálvin square is only a 10 minute walk from Corvinus University. The first bus leaves from the BKK bus stop at the airport (between the two terminals on the arrival level) each morning from 05:00 until 00:30.
- Tickets cost 900 HUF (app. 3 EUR) and can be purchased at the BKK (Budapest Public Transport) customer service point at the airport, or from ticket machines. You can find more information here about getting to and from the airport.
By car
If you’re coming to Budapest by car, there are several parking garages around the city which offer the option for longer parking durations, subject to a fee. Please click here for more information.
Near the university, there are 2 underground parking garages
- Studium Office Building (Corvinus New Building): underground parking for 400 HUF (1.3 EUR) per hour and 2800 HUF (app. 9 EUR) per day.
- Bálna Budapest: underground parking for 300 HUF (app. 1 EUR) per hour.
How to reach the campus
Public Transportation
- The university is located in the city centre. Metro line M4 stops right outside the Main Building of the university (Fővám square). Tram number 2 – starting from Jászai Mari square and running along the Danube – and trams number 47 and 49 – both starting from Deák square – stop here as well. Kálvin square metro station (a convenient stop when you arrive from the airport) is a 10 min walk from the campus but is also connected to metro line M4 which stops in front of the Corvinus
Main Building
- You can calculate your journey online here or with the BKK Futár trip planner application on your smartphone. Corvinus University is in the city centre so it should take you no more than 20 minutes to reach the campus from anywhere else in the city.

General information for entering Hungary
- Hungary joined the Schengen Area on 21 December, 2007. From that time visas and residence permits issued by one of the Schengen Member States are valid also for Hungary, and visas/residence permits issued by Hungarian authorities are – as a general rule – also valid for the entire Schengen Area.
- As of December 19th 2011, 26 states are part of the Schengen Area: 22 states of the 28 members of the European Union (Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden) as well as Norway, Iceland, Switzerland and Lichtenstein. (For the time being 6 member states of the European Union, i.e. Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Ireland, Romania and the United Kingdom do not issue Schengen visas.)
- The Schengen regulations are only applicable for a stay not exceeding 90 days. Rules for a stay longer than 90 days are laid down by the national law of the member states concerned.Nationals of other countries who wish to enter and reside in Hungary for a tourist, business, personal or other type of visit may need to obtain a visa at a diplomatic mission or consular post of Hungary prior to entering the country (note that for short visits many countries do not appear to require a visa).
