IR TALKS 9 – The ASEAN and the EU in a Changing World Order

24 Nov 2025 Monday / 17:00-18:30 / Faculty Club, Building E / Main Building

The latest IR Talks event took place amid lively student interest. The roundtable discussion, titled “The ASEAN and the EU in a Changing World Order” featured the ambassadors of Indonesia, the Philippines, Laos, Thailand, and India to Budapest, the chargé d’affaires of Malaysia, as well as Professor Bann Seng Tan from Singapore. The participants compared the possible responses of the EU and ASEAN, as integration organizations, to the U.S.–China rivalry, and discussed opportunities for cooperation between the two sides. At the end of the event, the invited ambassadors also answered questions from the audience, composed of more than sixty university students, revealing that most of them would gladly welcome our students as interns in the near future.

The event was organized and moderated by Tamás Matura (Institute of Global Studies, Department of International Relations).

IR TALKS is a series of guest and roundtable talks organised by the Department of International Relations at Corvinus University to make sense of the world we live in at a time of turbulent international politics.
