The number of publications with high academic rankings at Corvinus has quadrupled in six years

Corvinus University’s Institutional Development Plan for 2025–2028, one of the pillars of the Bridge Strategy, aims to improve research performance. Improvements in research performance facilitate the establishment of international academic and corporate partnerships, thereby helping the university to become more international.
According to journal rankings, the D1 category comprises the highest-rated journals in a given field – the top 10 per cent of journals – whilst the Q1 category comprises the top 25 per cent, and the Q2 category comprises the top two quartiles, representing the upper-middle tier. At Corvinus, the research community recorded fifty D1 publications in 2019; this figure has nearly quadrupled over the course of six years to 191, already exceeding the target set for 2028 among the strategic performance indicators. The proportion of Q1 publications has also risen dramatically; today, 77 per cent of Corvinus publications fall into this category, compared with 54 per cent in 2020.
Another noteworthy indicator, the Scopus citation count, measures the impact of academic publications. The higher the figure, the more frequently the works published by the university’s researchers in a given year were cited in other publications within the database. Corvinus’s Scopus count was 5,625 in 2019, which was four times higher than the previous year: in 2025, the international research community had already cited Corvinus authors more than 21,000 times. This result also exceeds the value of the monitoring indicator set out in the strategy.
