Call for applications for the “Korszakos Könyvek” programme

The programme offers students the opportunity to learn about and discuss fundamental issues in politics, law, religion, culture and economics.

Interested in philosophy and social theory? Would you like to discuss in a tutorial setting the fundamental issues of politics, law, religion, culture and economics? Would you like to learn more about classical works and thinkers? Would you like to write essays in a free and creative way? Do you feel that it’s worth developing your literacy as well as your academic knowledge?  

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, then this programme, which starts in spring 24/25 and is made up of six one-book courses, is for you.   

This year, students from all undergraduate, postgraduate and master’s degree courses are invited to apply for the programme, which will give them the opportunity to learn and discuss fundamental issues in politics, law, religion, culture and economics. During the three semesters, they will learn about classic works and thinkers, and the basics of free, creative essay writing. 

To apply, fill in the application form below and write an essay on the following topic:    

In a minimum of 2 pages and a maximum of 3 pages, present a book or work that you consider to have been of crucial importance to your thinking and intellectual development, and argue why it would be recommended reading for others. This could be fiction (e.g. a novel) or a work of social science or philosophy.   

Supporting points:    

  • It helped you to understand something important about the world.    
  • You felt it helped you to place yourself better in society, in the community, it helped you to understand yourself.  
  • Or it may have been very provocative for you, but at the same time it served as a spiritual awakening.    

The course takes the form of small-group seminars, so the number of students accepted is limited.
