Workshop for PhD students and early-career researchers: “Be Inspired by InSPiR2eS” – with Prof. Robert Faff

“Be Inspired by InSPiR2eS” is a space for PhD students and early career researchers (ECRs) to learn about three international opportunities to pitch their research.
2024.05.08. 09:00 – 2024.05.08. 11:30
Budapesti Corvinus Egyetem

Date: 8 May 2024 Wednesday 9-11:30

Location: Institute of Finance – Corvinus Main Building E.279.1

Participants can bring their speech and practice it with the mentor, Prof. Robert Faff, who will provide feedback on how to improve the pitches. The workshop comprises four parts that briefly outline three different initiatives and the fourth part will offer an exciting research training opportunity.

Part A: InSPiR2eS Global Pitching Research Competition 2024 (IGPRC2024).

Part B: InSPiR2eS Pitch Mentoring Initiative.

Part C: PBFJ Certified Novice Reviewer Program.

Part D – Practice: Pitch your research idea in 10 minutes using the PRF tool below and receive feedback (Limited spots for pitching: Register here to pitch).

Part D Task – to complete before the Workshop:

Produce a written 1,000-word (max. 10 minutes) novel research pitch using the “pitching research” framework (see the PRF tool below). This tool provides a simple, methodical device to communicate confidently/succinctly the essential elements of a new research (proposal) to an academic expert (e.g., to your thesis supervisor). For a detailed explanation of the PRF, read the SSRN paper “Pitching Research” [Faff (2024)]. Participants interested in presenting their pitch and receiving feedback must register their presentation in advance here Workshop for PhD Students and Early-Career Researchers.docx (sharepoint.com) or by contacting Milson Veloso at the Institute of Finance: veloso@uni-corvinus.hu
