Students’ testimonials

The Double Degree program I took part in was with the University of Palermo, in Sicily. While the opportunity of having 2 degrees was also tempting, the city itself was also an important factor. Palermo is the largest city in Sicily, with a vibrant and charming city center, with beautiful natural surroundings and great weather. Also, unlike most of the other Erasmus destinations, Palermo is quite cheap. All in all, it was a great experience. The university courses were good, but not extremely challenging, therefore I had time to travel and also to have many guests. People in general are very welcoming, and although it’s not the most popular Erasmus choice, there is a fairly big group of exchange students and ESN events very frequently.

The University of Passau is a highly visible and highly respected academic and research institution in the heart of Europe. • If the student has a full-time DSG Zeugnis, then the average thereof cannot be worse than 2.3 (according to the German grading system).
  • German type C intermediate language exam
  • English B2 language exam
  • Curriculum vitae in German, in the Europass format
  • Cover letter in German, 1 page
  • The average of the student’s BA degree cannot be worse than 3.5 (according to the Hungarian classification system).
  • Oral interview in German, based on professional motivation.
  • Applications will be assessed on the basis of DSG’s own evaluation system, in which the existence and results of the full-time DSG Zeugnis will be a priority. The spirit of the evaluation system is in line with the Erasmus application scoring method. Participating in the work of the DSG, such as active work as a demonstrator, is an advantage.

Students’ testimonials

My experience in Passau was quite unique. I fell in love with this amazing town for the first time. It has a very special atmosphere, with a lot of tiny, lovely bars, cafes and restaurants. The university campus is also beautiful: it is located along the Inn, so you can feel the nature always really close to you, even is you are sitting on a lecture with 200 other students. The university life is vivid, there are always programs and interesting workshops, lectures to participate in. The orientation weeks offer colourful events and create occasions to meet and get to know students from all over the world. For me this international environment is the most amazing experience, and I am very glad, that I could be the part of it. Once it is going to be over, I am sure, I will be missing it forever.

German language, German culture, and Germany played a key role in my motivations. When I saw the double degree program I was sure that I would like to take part in this opportunity. After my decision, I had to wait 1 year until the program is started because it starts only in September, but it is worth it. During my master’s, I think this program helped me the most to improve myself and learn from another perspective. Thanks to the team works I learned how can I work the most efficiently with other nationalities, which is really important if I would work for a multinational company. I could improve my English and German knowledge and thanks to my job next to the university I gained work experiences ad well. In my opinion, this will help me to find the right position for me in Hungary or in Germany. Of course, there are a lot of difficulties living abroad and studying abroad but you can see your borders and get to know yourself better and last but not least I had a perfect coordinator from my home university, who helped me and supported me in every situation. All in all, I can recommend this program for everybody because you will gain memorable experiences in everyday life and in your career as well.

IMESS – International Masters in Economy, State and Society

IMESS (International Masters in Economy, State and Society) is the leading two-year double degree programme in comparative area studies, that helps you develop in-depth knowledge and understanding of Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe, the Baltics and Russia.

In the first year of the programme, you will be studying in London at UCL (University College London), where you will have the opportunity to choose from 4 tracks out of which 3 (Economics and Business, Politics and the International Economy, Politics and Security) are also being taught at Corvinus University. An integral part of the programme is studying a language of the Central and Eastern European (CEE) region of which at Corvinus you can choose between Hungarian and Russian.

The recommendation is that prospective students choose the Economics and Business (EB) track who are interested in the application of economic methods to cases from Central and Eastern Europe. For instance, analysing the determinants of why Foreign Direct Investment moves into the CEE region. We recommend that you choose the Politics and the International Economy (PIE) track if you are more interested in issues, which are connected to political economy, such as the impact of the Belt and Road initiative on CEE countries. Our third track, Politics and Security (PS), we recommend to students who wish to understand the political and security situation in the CEE region. For instance, investigating causes of war and peace, or the lives of minorities in CEE countries.
