As of 18 March, the Hungarian government has extended the nation-wide lockdown that was announced earlier this month. Since the number of Covid-19 cases is still growing, the following measures are to be kept in force:
The curfew remains in place between 8:00 p.m. and 5 a.m. for all citizens.
All non-essential shops and services must remain closed and suspended for a two-week period. Restaurants can only operate via takeout and delivery.
Fitness centers and gyms stay closed. Outdoor sports activities are permitted if the minimum 1.5-meter distance can be kept. Professional athletes must compete behind closed doors.
International travel will be tightened.
Digital learning in higher education remains in place.
Employers are asked to ensure their employees can work from home if possible.
Public areas and parks remain open.
Free public parking.
The restrictions are expected to ease on April 19.
