Corvinus University 2020 honours presented

This year, the traditional awards ceremony of Corvinus University took place in an unusual, online setting on 24th November, where University Gold Medals, University Commemorative Medals and Honors were awarded (virtually) by University leaders on behalf of the Senate.

 In his opening speech, Rector András Lánczi emphasized that this ceremony is one of the most important events in the life of the institution every year. This is when the university community can celebrate together the colleagues who have done the most for Corvinus in the past year. The past year has been extraordinary in many ways, not the least because of the coronavirus epidemic that is rewriting the world’s operations globally. András Lánczi said that Corvinus University of Budapest was in the very middle of a transformation process, which is why it is extremely important to recognise the dedicated work of those employees who have done a lot in the renewal process and contributed to the reputation of Corvinus with their long and successful professional careers.
President of Corvinus University Anthony Radev stressed how important it is to stop and celebrate for a moment as we approach the end of a year full of challenges like this was. He thanked the laureates for their perseverance, expertise, and dedication, which is a distinct inspiration to him because – as he put it – they are the real example of what it means to be a member of Corvinus.

In his greeting, Chancellor Ákos Domahidi quoted Aristotle: “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit”

This year’s honour recipients – as he described them – serve as an example to all university citizens with their excellence, i.e. their professional knowledge, commitment, tremendous work ethic, ability to innovate and collegiality.

The Gold Medal of the Corvinus University of Budapest is awarded by the University Senate to those university colleagues who have been successful leaders or leaders of the University or have been / have been outstanding teachers and researchers for a long time.

 
Corvinus University of Budapest Gold Medal recipients in 2020:


Dr. Petra Aczél, in recognition of the active participation of, in projects related to university renewal, as well as her outstanding work as a department head.

Dr. Magdolna Gyenge, in recognition of her outstanding and conscientious work as Head of Department of the Department of Management Accounting and Deputy Dean of Economics of the Faculty of Business Administration.

Dr. Gábor Michalkó, in recognition of his outstandingly successful practical and theoretical work in the field of the renewal of doctoral training.Zsuzsanna Nagy, in recognition of her decades of work performed with her great professional competence and success in order to develop the services of the University Library and reach international standards.

Cecília Marcalekné Kormos, and in recognition of her outstanding work as the Head of the Study Office of the Faculty of Business Administration, as well as in the field of Student Services during the renewal of the study administration, which was established as part of the university renewal process.

The Commemorative Medal for the University is awarded by the Senate to those university colleagues (or persons outside the University) who have played a prominent role in aging the reputation of the University and increasing its prestige.

László Kacsirek, in recognition of his more than a decade of high-quality work in the development and management of the International Business program.

Dr. Tamara Nóra Keszey, in recognition of her international publication and scientific work.

Dr. Klára Major, in recognition of her high quality work in education and research, her outstanding role in the transformation and her leadership.

Dr. Zsuzsanna Marjainé Szerényi, in recognition of her work in the field of environmental economics research, as well as her outstanding practical and theoretical work regarding the renewal of the education.

Károly Mike, in recognition of his work as Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Vice-Rector for Faculty.

Balázs Árpád Szűcs, in recognition of his high level of educational and research activities, for his work as the faculty member responsible for the duties related to the Fudan-Corvinus Double Degree program, as well as his successful work as the faculty member responsible for the Finance Laboratory.

Margit Vargáné Bédy, in recognition of decades of high-quality work in study administration, in support of the entire study administration.
