The Aesthetics of Damnation: Corvinus Film Club Commemorates the Work of Béla Tarr

12 Feb. 2026, 6:00 PM
The Corvinus University Film Club pays tribute to one of the most influential figures in contemporary world cinema, Béla Tarr. On Thursday, 12 February at 6:00 p.m., the Faculty Club’s Theatre Hall will host a screening of Damnation, a seminal piece of the director's "monolithic oeuvre," followed by a community discussion. Béla Tarr’s work remains an unavoidable point of reference on the international stage. As filmmaker Ildikó Enyedi once remarked: “His work is valid beyond all changes. Such clarity is not tailored for our world.” The Corvinus Film Club’s event offers students and film enthusiasts a chance to immerse themselves in this unique cinematic world—one that is relentlessly cold yet profoundly emotional.
