Three perspectives of NATO’s baltic Security

The House of European Affairs and Diplomacy (HEAD) and the Corvinus Students’ Union (HÖK) invite our dear guests with the greatest pleasure to the next event of our regularly held panel discussions, during which we will be accompanied by three esteemed ambassadors from three different countries.

We feel extremely honoured that the following Ambassadors have accepted our invitation, and will join the panel discussion: 

  1. H.E. Mr. Erik Vilstrup Lorenzen, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Denmark to Hungary,
  2. H.E. Mr. Raul Toomas, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Estonia to Hungary, 🇪🇪 
  3. H.E. Mr. Pertti Anttinen, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Finland to Hungary and Slovenia.  

The event is going to be held on the 21st of February 2024 (Wednesday), starting from 19:10 in room “XI” of building “C” of Corvinus University of Budapest. 

Our opening event centres around the 20th anniversary of the Baltic states’ NATO and EU accession, delving into the present security situation in the Baltic region. The focus will be on acknowledging their achievements, addressing challenges, and highlighting key security aspects, including pertinent questions related to European Union affairs. 🇪🇺 

The conversation will revolve around the following topics: 

  • Collaborative security efforts of the countries with NATO and the EU, 
  • Military cooperation among countries in the Nordic-Baltic Region, 
  • The significance of the Baltic region’s security at both the European and international levels, 
  • The strategic role played by these countries in the defence of NATO borders, 
  • Current security concerns, with a particular focus on the countries’ roles in maintaining security in the Baltic Sea, 
  • Insights into the Steadfast Defender 2024 NATO field exercise, 
  • Drawing conclusions from the anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, 
  • Cybersecurity concerns among the NATO countries. 

 
The conversation is going to be held in English, and the moderator is going to be the Vice President of our organisation, Zétény Marton. 

At the end of the conversation, the audience will be allowed to raise their questions through the Slido app.
