    Further info about research: Az igazságos elosztás megvalósítása régóta foglalkoztatja az emberiséget. Így nem meglepő, hogy az elosztási kérdések számos tudományterület művelőit (filozófusok, közgazdászok, politológusok, szociológusok stb.) foglalkoztatja. Az elmúlt évtizedekben a kérdéskör axiomatikus vizsgálata terén született számos meglepő, érdekes és elgondolkoztató eredmény. Az egyik legalapvetőbb elosztási eljárás az arányos elosztást megcélzó eljárás. Az arányos elosztás nyilván csak folytonos elosztási problémák esetén valósítható meg. A diszkrét modellkeretben az arányos elosztás általában nem hajtható végre. A kerekítések elvégzése pedig számos problémát vethet fel. Az említett dilemmát egy valószínűségi modellkeretben lehet feloldani.A kutatásomban (1) a determinisztikus és a valószínűségi modellkeret közötti kapcsolatot vizsgáltam, (2) a valószínűségi modellkeretben az arányos elosztási eljárás egy egyszerű jellemzését adtam, (3) folytonos elosztási problémákra egy új arányos elosztást biztosító mechanizmust találtam és (4) a Borda-féle szavazási eljárás csalásbiztosságát vizsgáltam (ez utóbbit M. Barbieval és C. Puppeval közösen végeztem).

    Further info about research: A választási rendszerekben a szavazási eljárások, a mandátumszámítási eljárások, és a választókerület-szabdalási eljárások három jól elkülönülő komponenst jelentenek. A három eljárástípus nemcsak a választási rendszereken belül, hanem a közgazdaság-tudományban és általában a társadalomtudományokban is a problémák szélesebb köréhez köthető. Aszavazási eljárások közösségi döntéshozatalkor, a mandátumszámítási eljárások elosztási problémák megoldásában (pl. örökség örökösök közötti felosztása) és a választókerület-szabdalás pl. kórházak által kiszolgálandó lakóterületek kijelölésekor bizonyulhatnak hasznosnak.A választókerületek

    Further info about research: Three key ingredients of electoral systems are voting rules, apportioning methods and districting procedures. These three kinds of methods are widely used in economics or more generally in social sciences. Voting rules are employed in collective decision making, apportionment methods are also special kind of division rules (e.g. division of an inheritance between heirs), and districting procedures are also capable of partitioning an area served by a company or organization into zones assigned to serving units (e.g. warehouses and hospitals).The determination of a districting map is hotly debated question among politician and interested citizens, since the chosen districting can severely influence the outcome of an election. Debates about an actual districting allegedly or really favoring the governing party might be a topic in electoral campaigns. Giving even a partial answer to the problem, could lead to a better (in the sense of fairness) outcome and the parties could save their energies on more important questions such as choosing a better policy.Logical flaws of apportionment methods are less noticed by citizens. However, the ideal of one man one vote is an aim to strive for if one takes representative democracies seriously.We employ voting rules even in our everyday life. For instance, if a family member has to select a holiday destination, she or he can be employ a voting rule or can make the choice by just gathering information about individual preferences by her or his brain. In the former case learning about voting rules would be helpful, while in the latter case approaches from artificial intelligence might be able to predict the final decision.
