Katalin Ásványi, Program Director at Corvinus University, was interviewed by one of Hungary's leading economic news portals about three new green finance programs launching at the university in February.

From 2025, over 2,500 large companies in Hungary will be required to prepare ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) reports with the help of qualified professionals, and this regulation is expected to expand to cover a broader range of organizations. In response to these needs, Corvinus University is set to offer specialized Hungarian-language programs with varying depths and focuses in this area.

According to Ásványi, Head of the Department of Sustainability Management and Environmental Economics, the university plans to launch two postgraduate programs (ESG Management and ESG Economist) and a 200-hour professional training course.

“The main elements that set our ESG programs apart are their industry-specific nature, focus on change management, deeper accounting knowledge, and collaboration with community partners,” Ásványi emphasized. She added, “The program is deliberately designed to include more practical subjects rather than theoretical ones, except for accounting. Teachers will include Corvinus faculty as well as experts from companies and consulting firms.”

The official approval processes for launching the programs are still underway. If all requirements are met, the courses will begin in February 2025. Pre-registration has already started and will automatically be converted to a formal application if the programs receive final approval. The application deadline is February 3, 2025.
