2024-09-17 13:37:00

Professor Beata Nagy will serve as vice-chair of the Council of National Associations of the European Sociological Association (ESA) from 2024-2026.
Budapesti Corvinus Egyetem

The European Sociological Association (ESA) provides a forum for dialogue between sociologists researching and teaching in Europe. ESA has individual members, but institutional membership is also possible and national sociological societies are also members.

The Council of National Sociological Societies regularly engages in dialogue between its member organisations in order to discuss challenges, problems or even good practice in sociological research and education. The main topics of the past period have been secondary school sociology education and academic freedom, during which participants have explored differences but also similarities between countries. Potential themes for the next period include making sociology more visible, supporting young people in their careers and organising summer universities.

From 2024-2026, the Council of National Associations will be chaired by Paulo Peixoto (Portugal) and vice-chaired by Beáta Nagy (Hungary).
