It is well known that politicians and economists tend to think differently. How can they understand each other? One of the tasks of Political Economy is to make communication between these fields easier and meaningful. In fact, we all pursue political and economic goals at the same time, making decisions based on ideological, valuational and welfare considerations alike. These choices create complex patterns of behavior, various institutions, and different political-economic systems that cannot simply exported and imported. Studying and understanding them is, thus, also essential for decision-makers in the international arena, which is another key task of Political Economy. Both are exciting and timely – but also classic tasks: join the search for understanding and for solutions!
