About the programme

Business solutions for a sustainable future

The one-year programme prepares future leaders and entrepreneurs for the challenges of sustainable development and social transformation. Participants will learn tools and methods to initiate and manage the sustainable development of organisations.

You will be prepared for a variety of career paths, from corporate management and entrepreneurship to consulting, civil society and policy-making, to become a leader in sustainability transformation.

Apply a global sustainability perspective at local level. We inspire change in response to complex and dynamically changing environmental challenges, based on internationally recognised research.

Examinations

Assessment throughout the programme is implemented in multiple formats, striking a balance between traditional examinations and hands-on, practice-oriented tasks. While written or oral exams are still used in some cases, many courses—particularly within the specialisations—prioritise continuous evaluation through group work, project-based assignments, active classroom involvement, and presentations. This approach ensures that students are not only tested on theoretical knowledge but also on their ability to apply what they learn in real-world contexts.

The implementation of sustainable development requires the cooperation of all stakeholders of society. Businesses of the 21st century should understand the sustainability implications of their operations and develop and implement solutions to reduce environmental impact and promote social development.

Our master programme is built on the experiences of more than 30 years of teaching and research in business sustainability and covers all important topics business leaders should be aware of. Based on curriculum focusing on both local and global challenges as well as their interconnectedness, graduates will be able to utilise their knowledge in small and big business, as a consultant in the ESG field or as the leaders of organisations aiming at the solution of various sustainability challenges.
