Assistant Lecturer – AÉB/41/2026

The Institute of Marketing and Communication Sciences announces an open call for applications for the position of Assistant Lecturer for a definite-term employment relationship (until 31 August 2027).
Depending on the outcome of the annual performance evaluation, the employment contract may be extended by mutual agreement.

Expected earliest start date: autumn semester 2026/2027.

Job description and basic requirements

Teaching duties:

  • At least 8 lessons (1 lesson = 45 minutes) per week on average of two semesters)
  • The Assistant Lecturer will support teaching activities in the fields of marketing and marketing communication, primarily by contributing to seminars, practice sessions, course preparation, classroom activities, student consultations and assessment-related tasks under the supervision of course leaders. The position is particularly suited to an early-career academic who has recently completed a Master’s degree and is entering doctoral training, with a strong motivation to develop as a university instructor.

Research duties:

  • The Assistant Lecturer will contribute to the Institute’s research activities in marketing, and marketing communication topics (with a special focus on neuromarketing), including literature review, data collection, preparation of research materials, support for student research projects and assistance in the development of conference papers, manuscripts or other academic outputs. Previous involvement in student research activities, such as TDK work or demonstrator experience, is considered an advantage.

Service duties:

  • The Assistant Lecturer will support the educational and community-building activities of the Institute, including student communication, coordination of teaching-related administration, support for academic events, workshops and student competitions, and participation in tasks that strengthen the Institute’s educational profile. The role requires reliability, openness to teamwork and active engagement with students and colleagues.

Basic requirements

  • holds a diploma attesting to the completion of a Master degree and a specialist postgraduate qualification;
  • has started the doctoral programme;
  • has above-average knowledge and talent in academic literature or in a specific branch of science, has a measurable scientific and publishing activity in the given branch of science;
  • their task is to hold seminars and practice sessions and to support the teaching activities of the institute.
  • Previous demonstrator experience, participation in TDK or other student research activities, and experience in supporting teaching, academic events or student projects are considered strong advantages. The ideal candidate has good communication skills, a student-centred attitude, reliable work habits, and a clear interest in developing an academic career in marketing, marketing communication or communication studies.

Documents and certificates to be submitted as part of the application

Application in English (a single PDF file) that includes

  • a detailed curriculum vitae (CV) with a summary of educational, research and community service achievements;
  • a cover letter explaining the reasons for applying and the contribution the applicant intends to make to the Institute’s work (also specifying gross salary expectations);
  • scanned copies of the documents verifying the university degrees, and of the documents verifying other professional qualifications;
  • up to two publications; this may include working papers, doctoral dissertations, job market papers;
  • at least two professional references (one of which must be from a Hungarian expert if the call is published in Hungarian);
  • results of lecturer’s previous student evaluations (if relevant).
