Conference to honour Emeritus Professor Péter Ákos Bod’s 70th birthday

Following an informal departmental celebration over the summer, Corvinus University pays tribute to Emeritus Professor Péter Ákos Bod, who turned 70 in July, 2021 through the most academic way: hosting a conference! At this, Professor Bod’s friends, colleagues and students pay honour to his lifetime achievement as an academic and as an economic policy maker. The former includes being Head of Department of Economic Policy in 2000-2015, and publishing the most well-known Hungarian textbooks in economic policy along a large number of academic papers and other books, while being a regular participant in economic policy debates in past decades. The most important stages of Professor Bod’s policy making career were Minister of Industry and Trade (1990-1991), Governor of the Hungarian National Bank (1991-1994), and member of the board of directors of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (1995-1997).

The conference intends to address both current economic policy issues and past economic policy debates. It is to be held on the 25th of November at the premises of the University. All is welcome.
