Thesis submission and final examination in the Spring Semester 2020/2021

Essential information for students in their final year

Detailed information on the deadlines and tasks for submitting the Thesis work and applying for the Final Examination can be found here. Please read it carefully!

If relevant: declaration on thesis written in the parallel training – Annex IV.

We would like to draw your attention to the following, in particaular:

1. Who can upload their Thesis work in the spring semester a.y. 2020/2021?

  • Who have student status (active or passive):
    – Students who take Thesis seminar II. or an equivalent subject in the spring semester a.y. 2020/2021 (either for the first time or the second time).
    – Students who already completed Thesis seminar II. or an equivalent subject (received a grade), but the final certificate has not been obtained.
  • Who do not have student status (absolved status):
    – Deadlines and conditions for students who started their studies in the first grade in the 2012/2013 academic year:
    – Submission of the Thesis within 2 years after getting the final certificate/absolutory (who obtained the final certificate at the end of the spring semester of the 2018/2019 academic year or later)
    Thesis submission condition: NONE

    – Students who already submitted their Thesis but did not take or failed the Thesis defense (who obtained the final certificate at the end of the spring semester of the 2015/2016 academic year or later)
    Thesis submission condition: SUBMISSION OF A REQUEST
    Name of the request form: Application for the continuation of the thesis writing after the issuance of the final certificate
    Place of submission: Neptun

    – Submission of the Thesis within 2-5 years after getting the final certificate/absolutory (who obtained the final certificate at the end of the spring semester of the 2015/2016 academic year or later, until the end of the spring semester of the 2018/2019 academic year)
    Thesis submission condition: SUBMISSION OF A REQUEST
    Name of the request form: Application for the continuation of the thesis writing after the issuance of the final certificate
    Place of submission: Neptun

    Deadlines and conditions for students who started their studies in the first grade in the a.y. 2011/2012:

    – Students who already submitted their Thesis, more than 2 years ago (in the fall semester of the 2018/2019 academic year or earlier).

    Thesis submission condition: SUBMISSION OF A REQUEST
    Name of the request form: Application for the continuation of the thesis writing after the issuance of the final certificate
    Place of submission: Neptun 


2. General information

  • The content and formal requirements of the Thesis are contained in the Faculty appendices of the Study and Exam Regulations valid at the beginning of the thesis writing – Archive (4th June 2019) can be found here; the Faculy appendices start from page 75.
  • Urkund text similarity checker
    All uploaded theses will be subject to text matching. This test is performed by the URKUND system. The URKUND MOODLE manual check can be found here.
  • The URKUND system’s text consistency result (expressed as a percentage) is indicative. The supervisor/evaluator may initiate a Plagiarism test based on the result obtained. The Plagiarism Rules can be found here.
  • The upload process of the Thesis work varies according to each study program  



3. Thesis submission in the MOODLE system
You can find a detailed guide here.

ATTENTION!
Every student shall check whether they still have authorisation to use the Moodle system. If the student is unable to log in the Moodle system, then the student shall notify the Student Services by sending an email to the department responsible for the their program until 23rd April 2021:

– Hungarian-language, full-time degree programs: hallgatoi.iroda@uni-corvinus.hu
– Hungarian-language, correspondence, evening training and specialized further trainings: part.time@uni-corvinus.hu
– English-language degree programs: student.office@uni-corvinus.hu

The Moodle courses are available from 10:00 A.M. on 12th April 2021.

  • The trial upload of the Thesis may be carried out multiple times.
    Where: in the “Thesis upload (test)” menu
    When: between 12 April – 2 May 2021 (free of charge) ; between 4-9 May 2021 (payment obligation)
  • The final Thesis can be uploaded multiple times in Neptun until the given deadline, although only one copy of is stored – the last copy!
    Where: The final upload of the thesis can be completed in the “Final thesis upload” menu
    When: between 12 April – 3 May 2021 (free of charge)
  • Late submission: uploading the Thesis after the deadline is subject to a fee!
    Amount: 8,400 HUF/business day
    Where: in the “Late thesis upload” menu
    When: between 4-10 May 2021


Attention!
The Thesis submission deadline is different for each study program, the exact date (day and hour) can be found here, please check it!



DECLARATIONS:

Attention!
All declarations shall be affixed with signature and inserted ’as an image” (in scanned format).
Where to include the declarations in the Thesis work: following the inside title page, before the „Table of contents”.

Order of the declarations to be included in the Thesis work:
Declaration on the student’s own work – Annex I.
Supervisor’s declaration – Annex II.
Declaration on the publicity of the thesis – Annex III.
If relevant: declaration on thesis written in the parallel training – Annex IV.

The condition for uploading the Thesis work is to fill in a questionnaire in which the following topics must be declared:

  • The student shall declare that the thesis results from the student’s own work, and that the declaration (Annex I.) was attached to the thesis.
  • The student shall declare that the declaration on thesis written in the parallel training was attached (Annex IV.) to the thesis.
  • The student shall declare whether he/she wants to take the final examination during the spring semester of the 2020/2021 academic year. 


4. Thesis submission in the NEPTUN system

  • Students who have to upload the final version of their Thesis work in the NEPTUN system (according to their study program, details in the spreadsheet below) can use the „trial upload” menu in Moodle with the same conditions and deadlines (above) as students who upload their final Thesis work in MOODLE.
  • Final Thesis upload in the NEPTUN system.
    Where: in the „Studies/Degree thesis/Thesis application menu
  • Thesis upload process:
    1.The student initiates the Thesis work upload by clicking on the “Request for acceptance of thesis” button.
    2. The Supervisor can accept the request for acceptance of Thesis initiated by the student in Neptun by setting the status of the request to “Supported” in the “Support of final thesis submission” field.
    3. Once the status had been set to “Supported” by the Supervisor, the “Thesis upload” button will become active for the Student, until the date and time specified in the “Thesis upload deadline” field.
    4. After clicking on the “Thesis upload” button, the final title of the Thesis shall be filled out
    5. The declarations shall be made
    6. After this, the document upload window will appear.

Study and Examination Regulations Article 79 (1): The student is obliged to present his/her thesis to the supervisor for approval by the deadline set by the supervisor, but no later than 10 working days before the submission deadline. Deadline for sendig the Thesis to the Supervisor: 19 April 2021.

6. Payment of the thesis late submission fee

  • Who have student status (active or passive): can pay the fee from their Neptun Joint account (by bank transfer to the joint account number or via SimplePay). The fee will be registered in Neptun until 17th May 2021 and it must be fulfilled until the 6th of June 2021.
  • Who do not have student status (absolved): Students who do not have an active student status in the 2020/2021 spring semester can fulfill the late submission fee via bank transfer with the following information
