Exam info

In general

Before sitting an examination (written, oral and auditive) examinees have to show their identity cards / passports / driving license cards.  Examinees are not allowed to start an examination without a credible verification of identity. Mobile phones have to be switched off and mustn't be taken out of the room during examinations. Devices that are not allowed to be used on examinations include mobile phones, image/audio recording devices, digital dictionaries, and for certain exam parts, paper dictionaries. Using such devices and communicating with other examinees are forbidden, examinees caught will not be allowed to continue the exam. Please note that any unlawful activity concerning examinations or examination certificates is punishable by law. According to the Hungarian penal code (Btk. 274.§ /1/) the act of cheating may raise suspicion of illicit public document forgery, which may have legal consequences.

Written examination

The exact date and time of each written examination, which applies to each test centre, is set by the Examination Centre. Consult the exam schedule for further details. Examinees have to arrive at the test centre 30 minutes before the exam starts. Examinees have to take the seats allocated to them by the Examination Centre/test centre. The two envelopes handed out may only be opened when the invigilator says so.  In the envelope examinees will find the tests sheets, instructions, and answer sheets.
Examiners will only consider answers written on the answer sheet in blue or black ink. There is no extra time provided for copying answers from the test sheets to the answer sheets. Test answers should be written on the dotted line, or marked with an „x” at the appropriate place. It is very important that the barcode stickers examinees get from the invigilator should be applied onto the answer sheets. Tests without the barcode stickers on won't be assessed.
For the writing skills part, if a composition is more than 10% shorter than the word count given, the final score will be decreased at the same rate; if the writing is longer, it will only be corrected up to 110% of the set word count.
Should an examinee have any questions during the test, with a hand raised an invigilator may be called to help, however, invigilators won't assist with interpreting test questions.
When the time given for the exam part is up the invigilator tells the examinees to stop working, which they have to abide immediately and put their tests and answer sheets back into the envelope. The envelopes are then collected by the invigilators.

Using dictionaries

·                Mono- and bilingual dictionaries are allowed to be used at general and monolingual economic written examinations regardless of level, but only for the essay writing and reading comprehension test, and at International Relations exams, for writing and mediation.

Listening comprehension (speech understanding) test

The date and time of listening comprehension tests are set by the Examination Centre. For details see the exam schedule.
Examinees should arrive at the test centre 30 minutes before the auditive exam starts. Latecomers won't be allowed into the room after the recording starts playing. Examinees  must accept to sit in a sitting plan arranged by the Examination Centre / Test Centre.
Only answers written on the dotted line (or „x” marks put into appropriate boxes) in blue or black ink will be considered. Please mind that there will be no extra time for copying the answers from the test sheet to the answer sheet. Tests without the barcode stickers on – which are handed out by the invigilator – won't be considered.
The examination time frame includes foreign language oral instructions, a break before the first listening so that examinees may read the test sheet, the listening material itself which is read twice, and time for checking and finalising answers. Dictionaries are not allowed to be used for this exam part.

Oral (speaking skills) examination

The place and time of the oral examination – there are multiple occasions with a specific time window provided to each examinee – can be checked in the exam schedule on the Examination Centre's webpage. Examinees should appear in front of the respective examination room 10 minutes in advance and wait for the examiners to call them in.
The examination committee consisting of two examiners will hear one examinee at a time. One of the examiners greets the examinee and for the duration of the exam, examinees answer examiners' questions and follow their instructions. In keeping with relevant regulations, an audio recording is made of each oral exam. Videos may also be recorded for later non-public use at examiners' conferences.
Examiners don't tell the result of the exam on the spot, however, after the exams are over for the day the scores will be posted out on the door of the same room.
The oral exam date sometimes coincides with the auditive exam date.
