Prof. György Hajnal was the academic director of the MSc in Public Policy and Management programme from 2012 to 2020. He has been heading the Department of Public Policy and Management since 2012. In addition, he is Research Chair of the ELKH Centre for Social Research, Hungarian Academy of Science Centre of Excellence.
In 2010 he was awarded the Kolnai Prize of the Hungarian Political Science Association; in 2018 he was awarded the Gold Medal of Corvinus University of Budapest, and in 2020 the Hungarian Political Science Association awarded him the Bibó Award. György Hajnal has been a member of the Steering Committee of the regional learned society of public policy and administration NISPAcee (www.nispa.org
) since 2014, and he served as the President of the organization from 2018 to 2021. Since 2017, he has been a member of the Steering Committee and the Vice-President for Eastern Europe of a global academic organisation International Research Society for Public Management (www.irspm.net
Since 2015, prof. Hajnal has been a member of the Accreditation Committee ofthe scientific organisation EAPAA (www.eapaa.org). In this capacity, he has taken part in numerous international accreditations as a. He is also a member of editorial boards of several international academic journals such as the International Review of Administrative Sciences, the NISPAcee Journal of Public Policy and Administration and the Transylvanian Review of Administrative Sciences.
Since 2016 prof. Hajnal has been the head of the Institute of Economic and Public Policy, thus he is responsible for defining the research and education strategy of the Institute, and supervises the departments of the Institute.
