Corvinus Green

Together for a more sustainable University

Theme of the month: Food industry

At first, it may be hard to believe that the most we can do for sustainability on an individual level is to alter our food consumption habits. 35% of all greenhouse gas emissions from human activity are linked to food systems (Xu et al., 2021,), its impact is more significant than, for example, the entire transportation sector (including freight transport). The carbon footprint of our individual diet is largely determined by the proportion of animal products (Sandström et al., 2018,). In June, therefore, we will explore the topic of food production and consumption from a sustainability perspective, also showing how small steps one can take can lead us to a cleaner and more sustainable future.
