The technical handovers have been successfully completed and students will hopefully be able to take possession of the more modern, more comfortable dormitory buildings again from September.

Budapesti Corvinus Egyetem

The thermal engineering renovation started in the Corvinus buildings in previous years continued in the Kinizsi and Tarkaréti dormitories, where we have carried out significant building energy upgrades from tender sources in recent months.

From the gained source of Environmental and Energy Efficiency Operational Program 5.2.2. the following main works were carried out in the coordination of the Infrastructure Services in order to make building management sustainable.

  • In both buildings, the thermal insulation of the facades is 16-20 cm thick on a total area of 5400 m2 and flat roof insulation work is carried out on a total area of 3050 m2.
  • Replacement of doors and windows in the Tarkaréti dormitory on an area of 1150 m2 with plastic profile, three-layer glass doors and construction of a cantilevered aluminum shading structure with a protrusion of 1.2 m above the windows of the Kinizsi dormitory for a total length of 450 meters.
  • Replacement of the old FÉG boilers with 6 Viessmann 115kW condensing boilers, as well as the modernization of the hot water system and the heating manifold in the Tarkaréti dormitory.

By implementing the complete energy efficiency modernisation listed above, significant maintenance cost savings can be achieved, and the energy quality rating of both buildings has changed from the EE category to the CC (Modern) quality rating. Not only does the realized investment result in significant energy savings in dormitories, but it also represents an improvement in aesthetic and usability.
