Important information on the validity of residence permits and on returning to Hungary

In view of the pandemic situation, the residence permits that expired after November 4, 2020 are valid until the end of the health emergency situation in Hungary, but only in the case of those students who are physically in Hungary.

 If you are in Hungary:

If your residence permit has expired or is due to expire during the summer, make sure to renew it before you leave Hungary to return home for the summer. If you leave with a residence permit that has expired or is due to expire before you return to Hungary, you will have to apply for a student visa to be able to return.

If you were at home in the spring semester and studied online: If your residence permit has expired or is due to expire before your return to Hungary, you will only be able to return with a student visa.
