The Research Centre of Information Resources Management at Corvinus University of Budapest (CUB), directed by associate professor György Drótos, focuses on managing information resources, i.e. information and information technology (IT). On the one hand, our research area covers managerial perspectives: The conception and the implementation side of the employment of these resources. On the other hand it embraces the more hidden aspects of sociological and psychological intentions and effects of these resources. In our research, we apply multidisciplinary approaches in co-operation with colleagues from several scientific areas, and put special emphasis on e-business and web 2.0.
During the last two years the research centre intensively took part in the Competitiveness Research Program of the university, managing the information management section of survey. The research, as a stream of the research program on “International economic trends and the competitiveness of the domestic business sector”, TÁMOP-4.2.1/B-09/1/KMR-2010-0005, focuses on the IT strategy, the IT infrastructure, the application portfolio, and the managerial issues like in- or outsourcing, or the IT costs and budget. These latter topics are further investigated by our “IT benchmarking” research program, targeting company CIOs, in cooperation with IFUA Horváth&Partners Kft. Now we have returned to the field research to check the changes and extend the sample after the 2008/2009 “IT benchmarking” survey. Last but not least, our research centre conducts research on e-business models, resulting in a PhD thesis, as well as in case studies like Netwaiter (in English) or Bookline (forthcoming), or even in innovation research papers. The research centre finished a survey covering 105 Hungarian webshops recently that serves as a basis of innovation plans at the Hungarian Post.
