A tantárgy szakmai tartalma: This course provides a foundation for relatively new and interdisciplinary strands within the science of economics. Apart from underlying abstract theories about globalization, the students will get acquired with the spatial dimension of economic trends (economic geography), and with the interrelation between economics and social structures. As a special geographic focus, the Central and Eastern European region will be in the limelight during the semester.
The course is organized as lectures and seminars.

Évközi tanulmányi követelmények: The course is consisted of lectures and seminars.
1) On the seminars, each student has to prepare with a presentation of high quality, after careful consultations with the course leader.
2) The presentation has to be submitted in written form as an essay, following the rules of academic writing. (More details about essay will be clarified on the course.)

1) Assesment of presentation:
• the quality of the content presentation: theoretical background, presentation of given information, presentation of relevant data, the quality of the argument(s): 10 points
• the quality of the presentation (language, slides, etc.): 4 points
• The quality of the questions asked from the fellow students and the quality of the discussion: 6 points

2) A small essay has to be completed about the topic of the presentation. In this paper of which length shouldn’t be more than 10 page please try to summarize the material you have read, ask some questions and try to include your own thoughts as well. Please, do not copy-paste! The method and deadline of essay submission is to be discussed in the first class.

+) Additional 20 points are distributed for classroom activity.
Class attendance is mandatory for seminars only.

Participation on seminars: 20 points

After missing more than three seminars, no point can be given for participation.
Grades are non-negotiable. Please take into account that any complaints concerning the points of the midterm and final written exams (except for obvious adding mistakes) will result in a re-evaluation of the entire test.

It is in my interest that you receive the best possible grade on this course. Due to this, I will be available throughout the semester for consultation, either by e-mail, during our office hours or by appointment.

Grading is according to the standard grading table: 51%, 63%, 75%, 87%
