A tantárgy szakmai tartalma: International political economy has been an independent field of science the 1970s, when scientist coming from different fields started to work together and used an interdisciplinary approach to understand economic processes. The goal of international political economy is not to build general models of the global economy but rather to understand the causes of, and the outcome of those real-life events, that shape our world economy. In order to do that, a multidisciplinary approach is needed.
The goal of the course is to widen students’ knowledge and perspective about the world economy by adding additional perspectives to their already existing knowledge. The goal is to augment those theories of international economics and their main findings with a more sophisticated approach. The course will start with the brief introduction of the main perspectives of IPE, which will be followed by a “sectoral” approach. We will go through on problems related to trade, monetary and exchange rate policy and finance. We will deal again with transnational corporations as well.
