Social Futuring Center - Workshop in China| 2018.09.21.

Upon invitation by the China Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), Corvinus University’s Social Futuring Center (SFC) – operating as part of the newly founded Corvinus Institute for Advanced Studies (CIAS) – attended a workshop and study tour in Beijing.

Upon invitation by the China Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), Corvinus University’s Social Futuring Center (SFC) – operating as part of the newly founded Corvinus Institute for Advanced Studies (CIAS) – attended a workshop and study tour in Beijing  Four members of the SFC delegation and six CASS researchers held presentations on the following subjects: conceptual and methodological issues concerning the measurement of social futuring, expected changes in demographics, the reawakening of Confucionism, as well as changes in systems of civilizations and politics – all with a special focus on the Chinese perspective. The presentations were followed by fruitful discussions, which were richly enhanced by CASS researchers as well as representatives of Beijing University. 

As part of the official program, high level leaders of CASS met our University’s delegation. Professor Zoltán Szántó, Vice-Rector, had successful meetings with Professor Cai Fang, Vice President of CASS, as well as with Professor Huang Ping, Director of CASS European Studies Institute. The discussions included strengthening and deepening already existing relations, Chinese participation in the construction of the global social futuring index, as well as opportunities for our University and CASS to cooperate in other areas.
